Lucknow, Nov 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh BJP has reiterated its demand to ban the controversial book 'Sacchi Ramayana' and urged the state government to bring a stringent law to prevent sale of such books which insulted the Gods and Goddesses.

The party will hold a demonstration outside the Assembly tomorrow and the MLAs later will march in the state legislature and raise protest inside the House. A whip has been issued by the party for presence of all legislators during tomorrow's demonstration.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP legislature party leader Om Prakash Singh said the Mayawati government should clarify its stand on the book 'Sacchi Ramayana' and whether the party glorified Ravana like their ideologue Periyar.

Refuting the charges that BJP was trying to rake up Hindu sentiment through such issues, Mr Singh said both the centre and the state governments were responsible for these issues. ''The centre's move on the Ram Sethu and the state government's on the Sacchi Ramayana have forced the BJP to protest against the insult of the God and Goddess of majority Hindus,'' he claimed.

He said recently a major clash was averted in Varanasi in a book fair when copies of 'Sacchi Ramayana' were distributed free of cost to hurt the Hindu sentiments.
