Bangalore, Nov 3 (UNI) Opining that Nuclear choice has proved to be a bedrock for economic growth and sustainable development, France Minister for Higher Education and Research Ms Valerie Pecresse said today that the Indo-U.S nuclear deal would come up for discussion during the forthcoming visit of French President Nicolar Sarkozy to India in January next year, Speaking to news persons after visiting Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) here, she said that France was keen to extend its nuclear cooperation with India. "It would happen only after India signing framework agreement with IAEA and Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG) countries. France was working in the international legal frame-work as for as nuclear cooperation with other countries were concerned and we need India to negotiate with IAEA and NSG for the same" she added.
Ms Pecresse said that she had deliberated the issue of Indo-US Civil Nuclear Cooperation deal with Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal informally in New Delhi and the he had communicated that India was very much involved in the deal and working into finding an agreement. "It will be a good thing for India if framework agreement was through" she commented.
Stressing that Nuclear energy, while solving power requirement, also contribute for addressing the problems of climate change and maintaining clean environment.
