Goal flood in Junior hockey as 36 scored in four matches

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) Two teams from North East Young Pioneers School,Imphal and NCC Directorate chalked out contrasting victories to qualify for the super league on a day which saw goal flooding as 36 were scored in four matches in the 36th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament here today.

G Ningombam hit a brace as Young Pioneers routed Government Inter College,Gopeshwar (Uttrakhand) 6-0 after leading 2-0 at the breather.

Other goal scorers were Langoljam Leejohn, T Anil Singh,C Dayananda Singh, M Amarjit Singh(one each).

NCC Directorate piped Govt.School,Kalpi (M.P.) 3-2.The teams were levelled 1-1 at lemon break.

C Bijen Singh, M Khelan Meitei,Gurumayum Bishan Sharma (one each) scored for the winners.Vinod Kumar ,Sandeep Kumar (one each) were the goal getters for Kalpi school.

In the first match of the day, Aflan Yousaf slammed four goals as I P Higher Secondary School, Bhopal thrashed St Anthony's High School,Bardez (Goa) 11-0. The winners led 5-0 at intervel.

Other goal getters were,Jeeshan Malik ,Shakir Hussain (two each),Monish Yadav,Washim (one each).

In another match,Ajay Kumar fired five goals including a hat-trick to enable Moti Lal Nehru School of Sports,Rai (Haryana) drub Vivekanand College,Kolhapur (Maharashtra) 8-1. At half time score was 4-0.

Aamir Pal Singh (two) and Sudhir Jaglan (one) were the other scorers for the winners. Sawant Satyajit Ranjit scored the lone goal for the losers.
