Cotton gauge found inside uterus of woman

Kendrapara, Nov 3 (UNI) In an incident of sheer negligence of duty and carelessness, a doctor in the district headquarters hospital here left a cotton gauge in the uterus of woman while conducting an operation.

Seikh Hafizula, the brother of the woman, said her sister Jahira Bibi, a resident of Chaudakulat, was admitted to the hospital on October 22 for delivery.

The delivery was made after gynecologist Dr A Tarei conducted an operation. But after the delivery her sister complained of acute pain in the stomach.

An X-Ray conducted revealed the existence of a pad inside her uterus. The pad was later removed.

In a complaint to the Chief District Medical Officer(CDMO), Hafizulla demanded stern action against the erring doctor for his negligence and carelessness.

Hospital sources said an inquiry would be conducted into the matter and action would be taken against the doctor if he found guilty.
