Kolkata, Nov 3 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today demanded that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre should directly control the Central forces at Nandigram.
Addressing a rally, organised by the Krishijami, Jeeban-O- Raksha committee here, she said the UPA government could not remain a mute spectator after the March 14 mass killing, adding if the Centre wanted to protect the minority community, it should intervene directly in the area.
The CPI(M) vouched that the Central forces be controlled by the state government, but it would only aggravate the problem, Ms Banerjee opined.
'' We will keep a close watch on their every movement, '' she iterated.
She alleged that the attack was still continuing from the Khejuri side.
There was no law not only in Nandigram, but also throughout the state, she said and demanded Mr Bhattacharjee's resignation.
'' We want impartial investigation into Rizwanur Rehman's mysterious death and the government should not interfere into the case, '' she said.
She directed her party workers to be alert against any move to recapture land in Nandigram.
