Bihar govt withdraws security cover from Lalu
Patna,
Nov
03:
The
state
government
has
withdrawn
security
cover
of
Railway
Minister
and
RJD
superemo
Lalu
Prasad,
which
was
earlier
provided
to
him
as
former
Bihar
chief
minister.
According to official sources six cars, including the bullet-proof one used to escort Lalu during his stay in Bihar, besides some security personnel deputed for providing security cover to him, had been withdrawn.
''Mr Prasad was provided security cover as per the law enacted during the previous RJD regime which specified that proper security arrangement must be made by the state government to former Bihar chief minister for at least five years from the day he demitted office,'' the sources said.
They said the security cover was withdrawn as more than five years had lapsed since Mr Prasad demitted the office. Besides the 'Z plus' security cover, he had been provided with NSG commandos and CRPF personnel. The 'Z plus' security cover was provided as he had informed the government that Ranveer Sena, a private army of landlords, was posing threats to his life.
