New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) Young artists joined strokes with the veterans of the trade in a spellbinding display of colour, form, theme, material and aesthetics at an exhibition of contemporary art opened last evening.
The exhibition which brings young graduates of art together with veterans as Shuvaprasanna, K T Shivaprasad, V G Andani and Amitabh Sen Gupta to name a few was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee at the Visual Art Gallery of India Habitat Centre.
Mr Chatterjee appreciated the idea of providing a platform to young talent along with those who have established themselves.
The exhibition will continue till November 6.
A combination of youth and experience has become a popular success 'mantra' these days.
Looking at the artworks of the young artists it was difficult to differentiate whether the work was done by someone who has just graduated from a fine arts college or by someone who is a prominent figure in this profession.
Shuvaprasanna's portraits could well touch a viewer's heart as he brought life through meaningful lines and colours in his paintings.
Be it Amitabh Sen Gupta's colourful revelation, Dhiraj Choudhury's expansive rockscape or Andani's 'Utsava', every portrait showed a fine balance of aesthetic deduction and artistic output.
Not far behind, the young brigade was striking balance with their elderly masters as they displayed their artworks using oil paintings, acrylic paintings, ceramic pottery, wood and leno cart. The creativity could well be seen in their work as Prodip Sengupta a young artist created and enhanced the concept of opposites in his portrait titled 'importance'.
For Swapan Jana and Mukta Dey the feel of the material is of immediate and enduring importance as it allows them to shape their thoughts in striking sculptural forms.
There were many themes explored and several techniques employed each one attempting to please the mind and tickle the soul. The artworks could not be characterised to a particular theme or idea as it was about art and aesthetics; sense and sensibility; form and content and to a great extent about youth and experience.
