Reliance Big Tv becomes part of Reliance communications

Mumbai Nov 2 (UNI) Reliance Communications Ltd today said that in line with the company's objective to maximise the stakeholders' value, Reliance Big TV Pvt Ltd, which has license to provide Direct To Home (DTH) services, has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company.

At present, RCOM holds 20 per cent stake in Reliance Big TV, while the balance was held by the various group companies.

Reliance Big TV will launch its DTH operations by the end of the year.

Currently, India has about five million DTH subscribers. Subhash Chandra-promoted Dish TV, along with Tata Sky--a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Star TV Group--are the leading players. Doordarshan also runs a DTH service called DD Direct. Sun TV Group and Bharti Group also have the license to start DTH service.
