Man posing as supply inspector held

Vadodara, Nov 2 (UNI) A man posing as a supply inspector from Gandhinagar was caught and handed over to the police here.

Govind Shah, a resident of Hanuman Pol in Bajwada area, had allegedly been visiting PDS shops and demanding bribe on the pretext that complaints had been received against the shopowners for diverting essential items to the black market.

He had visited Dinesh Chimanbhai Rana's PDS shop yesterday and allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 citing similar reasons.

Rana told him to come the next day as he did not have much cash.

Meanwhile, he contacted his friends who advised him to check the person's antecedents and demand to see his identity card.

When Rana demanded to see the identity card today, Govind dithered. He was handed over to the police.
