Labourer from Jharkhand dies in Leh; man killed cutting trees

Srinagar, Nov 2 (UNI) A labourer from Jharkhand died while working in a hydel project at Leh in Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

They said Uttam Lohar, a resident of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, was hit by a shooting stone at the Alchi Hydel Project at Leh.

The labourer was immediately rushed to the SNM Hospital Leh where he died, the police added.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in the case.

In another incident, two people -- Ali Mohammad Khan and Ghulam Ahmad Baba were cutting a poplar tree at Malmoh village in Magam area of Badgam district in central Kashmir.

The tree fell on another person, Ali Mohammad Ganai, who died on the spot. Police have registered a case in this regard.
