Thane, Nov 2 (UNI) Historian and ''Shivsahir'' Babasaheb Purandare has said the popular play ''Janta Raja'', based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji, will be staged on a large-scale in the United States in the coming months.
The play, which has over 200 artistes, had been performed in the United States earlier too and had received tremendous response, Mr Purandare said while addressing a press conference here yesterday.
Shows would be held in New Jersey, Chicago and Los Angeles, he said.
''Janta Raja'' would be staged in Thane city from November 20 to 26. It is after a long gap of over 14 years that the play was being staged in Thane.
The play, which had completed more than 780 shows since it was first staged in 1985, traces the life of Shivaji.
Mr Purandare said efforts are on to stage the play in other languages also, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Gujarati.
