'Indian poultry industry important for international trade'

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad today said qualitative and quantitative progress in the Indian poultry industry will benefit farmers of the country to develop international trade.

Addressing newspersons after inaugurating the three-day Poultry India 2007 at Hitex Exhibition Centre here, he said ''the Indian poultry system is intended of technological advancement, and competitiveness in production is ranking very high in the world trade system. Display of qualitative and quantitative progress will prove hugely beneficial to farmers of the country to develop international trade positively.'' State Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said the Indian poultry industry's growth at 12 to 15 per cent every year was one of the best in the world. ''There are real opportunities for the country to play a significant role in the rising poultry business and consolidate our position as the leader in poultry industry.'' The event would not only showcase the progress made by the Indian poultry industry, but also provide an opportunity for national and international manufacturers and service providers to communicate on latest technology, machinery, equipment, products and services in the poultry industry.
