Hooda advocates fusion of Gurukul and modern education system

Kurukshetra, Nov 2 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the system of Gurukul education and modern education could together develop a better system of teaching.

The Chief Minister, who was speaking at the annual prize distribution function and 96th foundation day of Gurukul here, appreciated the Gurukul system of education saying that it laid emphasis on character building of the students by infusing among them moral values of life.

He said that the concept of Gurukul system of education was more relevant these days because of gradual decline of moral values in the society. He added that we should not forget our rich cultural heritage and traditions in this modern era of science.

Mr Hooda also went around the science exhibition organised in the premises of the Gurukul.

He announced to give Rs. 10 lakh out of his discretionary fund for the construction of Gymnasium Hall in Gurukul complex and promised to get Rs five lakh from Member Parliament Dr. Ram Parkash for the Gurukul.

The head of Gurukul Mr. Kulwant Singh Saini presented a memento and students performed a cultural programme and horse race, wrestling, yoga and shooting.
