Mumbai, Nov 2 (UNI) In a move to equip Municipal hospitals with the latest machines and provide qualified technicians for their smooth operation, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to invite tenders for MRI and CT scan machines.

Talking to reporters today, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said all the municipal hospitals will soon get the machines and the process of inviting tenders has started for Nair hospital. Approval will be sought from the Standing Committee and the machines will be installed in 2 months, he said.

Commenting on the existing services, Gajbeye said that the x-ray machines do not operate on Sundays as none of the workers are ready to work on a holiday.

Besides, he said there is a shortage of technical manpower in the corporation as the MRI machines and CT Scans require qualified staff with a diploma in Radiology.

The cost of installing the machines is Rs 4.5 crore, Gajbeye added.
