Surjit Academy win junior Surjit hockey title

Jalandhar, Nov 1 (UNI) Olympian Surjit Academy won the Surjit Hockey Tournament title for juniors after beating Punjab and Sind bank Academy by 3-1 here today.

Revenue Minister Punjab Ajit Singh Kohhar Gave away the prize to the winners.

The organising committee declared Bikramjit Singh of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Singh Academy as best goalkeeper, Sajjan Singh of Punjab and Sind Bank the best full back, Sapoor Singh of Surjit Academy the best half back and Jaswinder Singh the best forward of the tournament.

The final between Surjit Academy and Punjab and Sind Bank Academy was played on very fast note.

Surjit Academy drew the first blood in the fifth minute when Jagroop converted a penalty corner (1-0).

Four minutes later, Hardeep Singh made it 2-0.

Punjab and Sind Bank Academy reduced the margin in the 23rd minute when Sajjan Singh converted a penalty corner (1-2). In the 26th minute Sajjan Singh struck once again (2-2).

In the 31st minute Jaswinder Singh of Surjit Academy put his team ahead once again (3-1).
