Orissa to set up two Special Courts to trial corruption cases

Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 (UNI) Two special courts to hear speedy trial of disproportionate of property cases against the political persons in high positions and senior officials will be established in Orissa.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

Official sources said the special courts would trial the cases against the political leaders and senior government officials as per the provision in the Orissa Special Court Act 2006.

While one such court would be established in Bhubaneswar, the other court will be set up in Cuttack.

The government, the sources said, will soon approach the Orissa High Court to furnish a list of the name of the judges to be appointed in the Special courts.

The meeting was attended among others by Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, Home Secretary Tarunkanti Mishra and Special Secretary to the Chief Minister Bijaya Kumar Pattnaik besides the special secretary to the Law Department.
