More youths should join Navy : Commodore Sen

Kolkata, Nov 1 (UNI) Naval Officer-in-Charge of West Bengal Commodore B R Sen today asked the youths to join the Indian Navy.

" We have an important role in the country and there is a huge opportunity in this arena. In the interest of the country, the youths should join the Indian Navy, " Mr Sen said on the occasion of Navy Week Celebration here.

" We would spread peace through our music all over the world, " he added.

The Navy would perform Indian Naval Band at Science City auditorium on November three, and the maiden performance in the city by the Indian Naval Central Band comprising 106 musicians would be organised under the aegis of INS Netaji Subhas, Navy Office, Kolkata.

The Naval Central Band, the premier band of the Indian Navy, was commissioned in 1944 with a strength of 50 musicians and today it had grown to 125 piece Symphonic Orchestra, and the band would be conducted by Indian Navy music director Captain P G George.

He said the Band had been enthralling audiences all over the country and several places abroad.
