Help Tamils in Sri Lanka: Krishnasamy asks A K Antony
New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Pudhiya Thamizhagam President K Krishnasamy today submitted a memorandum to Defence Minister A K Antony, urging the Centre to stop supply of arms, ammunition and other technical assistance either directly or indirectly to the Sri Lankan armed forces.
India should permit the relief material collected in Tamil Nadu for the suffering Tamils in Sri Lanka, mainly medicines, food supplies and clothes, to be distributed through the Red Cross Society, he said.
There was need for stopping the so-called joint patrolling of Indian ocean region by the Indian and Sri Lankan naval forces to prevent harassment and killing of Tamil fishermen.
The government should also make a statement inside and outside Parliament, clarifying its stand in favour of the Sri Lankan Tamils, Dr Krishnasamy said.
