Eunuchs seek free higher education, monthly assistance

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 1 (UNI) The All India Aravanigal (eunuchs) Rights and Rehabilitation Centre has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to provide free higher education and monthly assistance to members of their ostracised community.

In a memorandum to State Social Welfare Minister Poongothai here yesterday, a copy of which was made available to the Press, the centre's chief functionary P Mohana said though the Government had extended several welfare measures to the transgenders, officials at the district level were unaware of such schemes. To overcome this, she wanted circulation of periodical and detailed circulars to all the districts.

Ms Mohana sought priority for the community in education, especially to pursue post graduation in social work.
