DJA denounces attack on journalists in Bihar
New Delhi, Nov 1(UNI) The Delhi Journalists Association today deplored the attack on journalists by ruling JD(U) MLA Anant Singh from the Mokameh assembly segment in Bihar.
Coming out strongly against the assault, DJA president Manohar Singh said it was an attack on the freedom of press.
He also demanded that the state government set up a judicial inquiry into the incident.
NUJ(I) Secretary Ras Bihari said the state government should lodge an FIR against the legislator, his bodyguards and supporters failing which the DJA will stage a sit-in in front of the Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi.
DJA General Secretary Manoj Verma also echoed his journalist colleagues' demand and voiced grave concern over the incident. He said stopping the fourth estate from gathering news was a clear violation of democratic norms and the state government should give compensation to those attacked.
