Dharna against largescale deaths in Bhusan plant
Sambalpur, Nov 1(UNI) Activists of Bhumika, a Sambalpur based NGO, today staged a dharna before the District Collector's office here protesting the deaths of workers inside the Bhusan Power and Steels Limited at Thelkuli.
The NGO, quoting a recent report by UNDP, alleged that more than 200 workers have died in accidents inside this plant since its inception.
Bhumika activist Gargi Satapathy alleged that the company in connivance with government and police had successfully hidden the industrial accidents inside the plant as well as the death of the workers.
The demonstrators demanded criminal cases against Bhusan Steel and all other units for violating safety norms.
Senior citizens and labour leaders also participated in the Dharna.
