Bombs hurled at of engineers' residences in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 1 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants today hurled two bombs at the residence of two engineers in separate incidents here.

Police said the miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the residence of Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) Ng at Singjamei in Imphal.

However, no one was injured in the incident, the police added.

In a seperate incident, a bomb was hurled at Additional Chief Engineer of the Irrigation and Flood Control department Md Aziz's residence at Keikhu in Imphal.

Police said the bomb did not explode and was detonated later.

Officials said cases of crimes against engineers were increasing in the state and the engineers were unable to go to the work sites following threats.

Recently, three engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were released after 17 days of captivity by Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) militants.

An Executive Engineer of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD) and two other officials of the IFCD were also reported missing since October 30.

Laithangbam Yaiskul of the IFCD, along with his two drivers, Tolen Singh and I Basanta Singh, were reported missing when they were inspecting the Nambul river in Imphal.
