Jalandhar, Nov 1 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal congratulating all the people of the state on the occasion of 41st Punjab Day today urged them to work towards maintaining peace and prosperity so that the state could progress more.
Speaking at a function organised at Lyallpur Khalsa College on the occasion, the Chief Minister praised the Lyallpur Khalsa Education Association for organising the funtion in coordination with the Punjab Jagriti Manch and said he would look into the issue of granting status of university to the college.
Later, talking to mediapersons, Mr Badal refrained from saying anything positive on giving Dearness Allowance to the state government employees as Diwali gift.
He accused Congress of being anti-Punjabi since partition, criticising it for not giving all Punjabi speaking areas to the state including Chandigarh.
He said whenever Congress came to power at the Centre it had always adopted double-standards for Punjab and had become a hurdle in the progress of the state.
Commenting on the bail given to the former DGP SS Virk by the High Court, Mr Badal said,''If the court gives bail to a person that does not mean the person is innocent.'' UNI
