Senegal's Diouf to end international retirement

By Staff

DAKAR, Oct 31 (Reuters) Senegal captain El Hadji Diouf is to return to international soccer after appeals for him to reconsider his decision to retire, the West African country's state news agency reported today.

The Bolton Wanderers striker announced his international retirement on October 8, citing organisational problems within the national team. Coach Henryk Kasperczak promptly named him in the squad to play Guinea a week later, but Diouf did not appear in the friendly.

''I have been very moved by the many appeals since I decided to end my career with the national team. I have decided with humility to rejoin the national team for my country, which I love profoundly,'' Senegalese news agency APS reported.

Senegal have qualified for the next year's African Nation's Cup finals in Ghana.
