Shajapur, MP, Oct 31 (UNI) Sagar's Forensic Laboratory has confirmed that 300 tonne beef loaded in 22 containers seized by the police near Susner in this district belonged to bovidae family, official sources said today.

Since bovidae family comprises about 150 animals having hoofs, fresh samples had been sent to Jabalpur's Veterinary College and Mathura forensic laborary yesterday to ascertain seizure of cow meat. Sources said the Sagar laboratory report was presented in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate yesterday.

Local veterinarians claimed, the seized beef belonged to animals of less than 15 year age group.

The air-conditioned containers were seized from several trucks on Agra-Mumbai National Highway on October 23 while it was being conveyed to Mumbai for export purpose.

Fearing spread of epidemic from the containers kept near Susner village under police protection, local villagers have demanded its removal. Officials are keeping the air-conditioning system running to avoid perishing.
