Jalandhar, Oct 31 (UNI) Olympian Sandeep Singh performed hat-trick as star-packed Indian Airlines, Delhi defused Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala by 7-1 on their way to semi-finals of the 24th Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here tonight.
In semi-finals Indian Airlines will face Bharat Petroleum of Mumbai on November 1 at 1430 hrs.
Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar will lock horns with Punjab&Sind Bank Hockey Academy, Delhi in the juniors on November 1.
In the first half Indian Airlines dominated the proceedings.
Full- back Sandeep Singh converted three penalty corners in a row.
He sounded the 18'' high board in 15th, 25th and 28th minutes. The fourth goal was scored by Sandeep Micheal from the left flank (4-0).
At half time Indian Airlines were leading by 4-0.
In the 51st minute the powermen got a penalty corner and fullback Amrik was stickchecked by a defender. The umpire awarded a penalty stroke in favour of the powermen. Jatinder Kumar made no mistake to reduce the margin (1-4). In the 57th and 62nd minutes Indian Airlines, increased the lead when their Sandeep Michel and Kulbhushan converted the penalty corners, respectively (5-1). In the 67 nd minutes, Osaf-ul-Rehman socored a fine filed goal with a solo effort to complete te tally (7-1) In the Pool A Surjit Academy Jalandhar thrashed RCF Academy Kapurthala by 11-1. In the 3rd minute Hardeep Singh took the lead for Surjit Academy (1-0). In the very next minute Jaskaran Singh scored for Surjit boys (2-0). Manjinder Singh (14th), Jgaroop Singh (17th), Sukhdeep Singh (25th), Jaskaran Singh (28th), Harnek Singh (30th), Manjinder Singh (45th), Sukhdeep Singh (47th), Sapoor Singh (52nd) and Jagmeet Singh (68th) scored for the Surjit Academy.
For RCF Academy Jagjit Singh was the lone scorer in the 66th minute (1-11). With this win Surjit Academy earned six points from two league matches.
In Pool B Punjab&Sind Bank Academy beat Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Academy Amritsar by 2-0. In the 12th minute Sind Bank Academy boys took lead, when Sajjan Singh sounded the board (1-0).
In the 35th minute Sajjan Singh converted the penalty corner (2-0).
In 54th minute Sajjan Singh converted another penalty corner to complete the hat trick (3-0).
