Dehradun, Oct 31 (UNI) Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee chief Harish Rawat today urged the Centre to provide interim relief to the Government employees following the release of the 6th Pay Commission Report.
Mr Rawat said the release of the interim relief was delayed by the Government and it should not be delayed further.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has done a commendable job by constituting 6th Pay Commission but he ought to provide Interim Relief to the Government employees, he added.
''It should have been done immediately with the constitution of the Pay Commission and the delay by two years has posed financial difficulties for the employees,'' Mr Rawat said.
Mr Rawat apprised that he has written a letter to the Union Finance Minister in this regard.
''I have also written a letter to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister urging them to grant B-2 city status to Dehradun,'' he said.
