Chandigarh, Oct 31 (UNI) Digvijay Singh Mehta from Himachal Pradesh maintained his winning spree as he today stunned sixth seed Sadwilkar Adwaitin in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the boys under-14 quarter-final match of the Asian Ranking Tournament being organised by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association in Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
Bolstered by his yesterday's straight set 6-1, 6-4 verdict over second seed Ronit Bisht, Mehta, who is a trainee of CLTA, today played with redoubled vigour to down Sadwilkar.
The remaining three quarter-finals matches were extended to three sets. Top seed Saiteja Paladugu defeated eighth seed Devpriya Jaiswal (Ind) 6-4, 2-6, 7-5. Third seed Aashman Goghari prevailed over plucky fifth seed Tushal Thawani 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4. Unseeded Chakma Manab Kumar, down by first set, rallied splendidly to score a hard-fought victory over qualifier Suraj Beniwal 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, in the girls under-14 singles quarter-final match Natasha Palha ended the winning streak of local player Harnoor Kaur Mann 6-2, 6-2. Vaidehi Bhagwat also moved into semi-final at the expense of Zainab Ali Sajjad 6-3, 6-0. Anushka Bhargava and Arzoo Malik also advanced to the semi-final round with straight sets win over their respective rivals.
