Man held for duping women into fake marriages

Chennai, Oct 31 (UNI) The city police today arrested a man for duping women into 'fake marriages' to obtain dowry, using the internet, at suburban Puzhal.

According to police, Inbaraj (33), a school dropout, also ran a dental clinic in the area.

He used Kalyanamaalai, a well known online matrimonial website to seek out women and received six marriage offers and Rs 1.60 lakh dowry.

Following a complaint by one of the victims, police laid a trap and arrested Inbaraj, when he came to collect the dowry at a bus stand in Parrys area.

Police also suspect the role of Inbaraj's wife in the fraud.
