Patna, Oct 31 (UNI) Patna High Court today adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by the Bihar government, challenging a lower court's acquittal of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi, in connection with the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
Sumant Singh, the counsel of Mr Prasad, and CBI lawyer Vipin Kumar Sinha informed the court of Justice R K Dutta that the writ, challenging the admission of the state government's petition by the High Court, was enlisted for hearing before the Supreme Court on November 12 and requested to defer the hearing till then.
The state government's counsel also made a similar request before the court and urged the judge to defer the hearing on the matter till November 20,which thecourt approved.
Earlier, the state government, through a petition on February 16, had challenged the acquittal of the RJD leaders by the lower court.
The special CBI court had acquitted both Mr Prasad and Ms Rabri Devi on December 18.
The CBI had instituted the DA case against both the leaders following investigations into the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.
