Kohima, Oct 31 (UNI) Former Nagaland Legislator I Arienba Jamir, who represented the Jangpetkong Assembly constituency under Mokokchung district in 1969, passed away at Mokokchung last night.
He was 76 and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
He received his education in Mokokchung and joined State Government service in 1960. He left his job in 1968 and joined politics and was elected to the Second Nagaland Legislative Assembly the following year as part of the then Nagaland National Organisation.
He was a very popular social activist and his demise shocked the people of the district. Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio condoled the death of Arienba and conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family.
