Visakhapatnam, Oct 31 (UNI) The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Chief Controller A Sivathanu Pillai today handed over warship technology products developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) to Naval Headquarters Chief of Materials Vice Admiral D S P Varma.
In his address, Dr Pillai said the hard work of NSTL scientists and staff yielded fruitful results in helping deliver to the Navy indigenously developed products meant for use in warships to evade detection by enemy ships and submarines.
Vice Admiral Varma said NSTL work was enlightening and products developed here were finding acceptance with the Navy which was working closely with R&D laboratories with design and planning inputs.
NSTL Director V Bhujanga Rao said the organisation had completed 38 years of existence facing many challenges and exciting times.
It was NSTL's endeavour to hand over as many pieces of hardware as possible by focusing on development of the essentials required by the Navy.
The products developed include acoustic enclosures, acoustic silencers and double stage vibration isolation systems.
They were subject to extensive laboratory and shipboard evaluation and later accepted for induction into service by the Indian Navy, Dr Rao said.
