Lucknow, Oct 31 (UNI) Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party members today staged a noisy walkout in the Uttar Pradesh assembly in protest against the Speaker's decision not to allow them to raise the issue of insult to Mahatma Gandhi and installation of hand pumps in the urban areas respectively.

Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar did not allow the Congress members to raise the issue of Mahatma Gandhi in which they charged that UP chief minister Mayawati had made some derogatory remark during her recent public meeting at Chandigarh.

Mr Rajbhar said that as the matter was not concerned to the house, it could not be raised.

Later the Congress members staged a noisy walkout from the house.

The BJP members also walked out from the house after the government failed to assure them that hand pumps would be installed in the urban areas on the recommendations of the MLAs.
