Allahabad, Oct 31 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today passed an interim order in favour of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Atiq Ahmed's wife, stating she was not compelled to deposit her firearms, the license of which was suspended by the order of the ADM, Allahabad.
Passing the order on a writ petition filed by Shaista Parveen, wife of the SP MP, Justice Janardan Sahay directed the state government to file an affidavit in this regard within four weeks.
The petitioner had challenged Allahabad ADM and Divisional Commission orders in HC.
On September 21, the ADM had suspended firearms license of the petitioner, issuing show cause notice to her.
Later on October 27, the divisional commissioner had rejected the appeal by the petitioner against the order of the ADM.
The counsel appearing for the petitioner SMA Kazmi had contended in the court that in view of the two full bench decisions of suspending the firearms license and issuing show cause notice should not have been passed by the authority on the same day.
The HC will hear this case after exchange of affidavits.
