Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao today said 23 people were killed due to heavy rains that lashed the North Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions for four days.
Addressing a press conference here, he said 16 people were killed in Nellore district, six in Kadapa district and one in Chittoor district. The bodies of two victims were yet to be recovered from flood waters in Kadapa district.
About 1.18 lakh people in the four districts of Nellore, Kadapa, Chittor and Prakasham were affected due to incessant rains.
More than 100 relief camps were set up to provide rehabilitation in the affected districts. About 530 villages were badly affected, while 278 houses were fully damaged and 1996 houses partially damaged. So far, 63,000 people were rehabilitated, the minister added.
