Visakhapatnam, Oct 31 (UNI) Stamp collection as a hobby will help us learn about various things, monuments, persons, flora and fauna and rich cultural heritage of other countries, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Raman P Suthan said today.

Inaugurating the 11th Andhra Pradesh Philately Exhibition (APPEX-2007), he said, the art of stamp collection would build and warm up friendship and encourage mutual help. A special postal cover on 'Star Tortoise' was released to mark the occasion.

Segregated into different groups, more than 150 participants were taking part with 453 frames on display. The Army Postal Service had also set up a stall. The exhibition is organised to encourage philately among children.

The three-day exhibition organised by the Department of Posts had put on display stamps from pre-independence era to the present day, Indian air-mails, postal history and stamps from various states.
