10694 income generation units set up in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 31 (UNI) A sum of Rs 212.22 crore has been advanced under various schemes by financial institutions for establishment of 10694 income generating units in the priority and non-priority sectors in Srinagar district till June end, an official spokesman said.

This was an overall achievement of 49 per cent, he said.

This information was given at a District Consultative Committee meeting of Lead Bank held here today to assess the achievements registered by various banks in respect of disbursement of loans and establishment of lucrative units.

Reviewing achievements registered under various sectors of economy, it was given out that under priority sector which includes agriculture, non-farm, SSI and trade and services sectors 2251 lucrative units with a loan facility of Rs 55.62 crore have been established while under non-priority sector 8443 income generating units stand established with a financial assistance of Rs 156.60 crore.

Similarly, under government sponsored schemes loans to the tune of Rs 3.92 crore have been disbursed to 417 beneficiaries till September this year.

The meting also discussed and approved Potential Linked Plan prepared by NABARD for 2008-09 at Rs 139.30 crore for the district.

Besides contours of Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana was also reviewed and various decisions taken for its effective implementation.

During the meeting the officers and bankers were asked to simplify the loan sanctioning procedures so that the loan seekers do not face any problem.
