New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Yahoo! India today launched a service through which its members can read or write e-mails in Hindi and introduced instant messaging service (IMS) in seven Indian languages.
''Yahoo! Mail in Hindi is relevant to the 200 million Indians who are expected to come online in the next few years,'' Yahoo! India Chief Administrative Officer Pranesh Anthapur told reporters here.
This will also be an attractive product for a large section of company's advertisers who want to reach out to the non-English speaking Indian population, he added.
Launched in 1997, Yahoo! mail is currently available in 22 launguages.
Besides, Yahoo! Messenger has also introduced a new web-based version of it's IMS which does not require downloading and is available in nine Indian languages.
''Our users can chat in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, and Gujarati,'' said Yahoo! India Director Communication and Community Products I M Swaminathan.
The users can switch between these languages seamlessly along with English, he added.
