New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) A captivating ambience and a scintillating dance performance by French dancers enthralled the audience here, as Alliance Francaise de Delhi celebrates 50 years of its presence with an enrapturing show 'The Magic Brush'.
A large number of professionals, students of Alliance Francaise and celebrities of Delhi came together on the opening ceremony, which saw dance performances by mannequins. The ceremony was inaugurated by the French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont yesterday and also featured works of famous cartoonist Sudhir Tailang.
The week-long events will mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Alliance Francaise. An art exhibition, "Artists at Work" featuring art works of guest artists of the Art camp and the sculptors of a known French modern visual art artist Yom, was also inaugurated.
Yom bases his message on man and not on what man builds. Yom uses symbols -- circles, squares, spheres and cubes, which when combined define a language through which he expresses his ideas.
The exhibition will feature works of art of Indian and French guest artists.
The second day will see the staging of 'Egalite (Duece)', a one-act play directed by Raman Chawla and S. Somasundaram.
A show featuring talented singers, "students' fest' will be held on November 3, while a play "Love is in the Air" will be held on November 4.
The events will culmination with a show called "Fashion Mode", to be held on November 6.
