Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) Strongly condemning the attack on TNCC President M Krishnasamy, Senior Congress Leader and Union Minister E V K S Elangovan today said the incident exposed the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu in the last two years.

''It (the incident) is a proof that the law and order situation in the state is not good,'' he said in a statement.

Though one could draw solace from the fact that DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi visited Mr Krishnasamy at the hospital, punishing the guilty would ensure a stable law and order situation in the state.

Observing the incident took place due to lack of security to political leaders, Mr Elangovan said the Chief Minister should ensure adequate security was provided to all political leaders.

PMK Founder-Leader S Ramadoss, condemning the attack, alleged the police had failed in their duty in taking preventive measures.

Proper information from intelligence would have prevented the incident, he claimed.

''Security is not confined to one or two leaders. It will be an insult to a government if a situation is created wherein every political party leader has to go to the court to get security,'' Dr Ramadoss said.

The government should draw a lesson from the incident and provide adequate security to leaders of all political parties.
