Three more CFL villages in Narnaul

Hisar, Oct 30 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) today declared three villages of Operation Circle Narnaul-- Bhakri, Sohari and Rajpura--as cent per cent compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) villages under its ongoing campaign for energy conservation.

With these three villages, the total number of CFL villages in the area of the Operation Circle Narnaul has increased to 66.

A spokesman of DHBVN said in Bhakri village 379 residents had 380 metered and regular power connections. To replace all incandescent bulbs, the consumers purchased 781 CFLs from the camp organised by the DHBVN officials and the CFL vehicle of DHBVN.

As many as 129 CFLs were already in use in the village.

In village Sohri, 170 of 175 houses have metered regular power connections. With the replacement of all the 420 incandescent bulbs in this village, the employees declared it a cent per cent CFL village. Fifteen of CFLs were already in use in the village. In Rajpura village, all the 238 residents had electricity connections and the total number of domestic conections was 243.

The village today achieved the distinction of becoming cent per cent CFl village.The employees got replaced all the 298 incandescent bulbs in the village. While a number of CFLs was already in use for lighting in the village.

With the replacement of the remaining incandescent bulbs in the villages, there has an average reduction of 25 ampere per transformer in the load on the ten transformers feeding these three villages.

The spokesman said DHBVN officials camped in these villages.

They also organized CFL stalls in the villages and went from door to door along with Sarpanches and other members of Panchayats to persuade the residents to replace traditional yellow bulbs with the energy efficient CFLs.
