Strike affects work in Govt offices in MP

Bhopal, Oct 30 (UNI) Functioning of central government offices in Madhya Pradesh was badly affected following the nationwide strike by employees to press their demands.

Their demands, included making a provision for interim relief, revamping of the new pension scheme, lifting the ban on recruitment and contract appointments among others.

Several central government departments remained closed. In the state capital, a rally was taken out by the central government employees and later it was converted into a public meeting.

In a statement issued here today, Central Employees Coordination Committee's (Madhya Pradesh) General Secretary Yashwant Purohit claimed that the strike was total with income-tax department, central groundwater board, Central Geological Survey of India, Archaeological Survey of India and postal departments.
