Sharad Rao registers 5 FIRs against BEST GM

Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) BEST Workers Union General Secretary Sharad Rao today filed FIRs at 5 police stations against Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking's General Manager Uttam Khobragade, after he decided to close down co-operative societies run by the Union.

Mr Khobragade on Saturday closed down co-operative societies at Majas, Colaba, Mulund, Anik and Goregaon depots, terming them as illegal and against the Undertaking.

Mr Rao, responding to the step taken by the GM, filed FIR's in 5 police stations and has urged the police to take action against Mr Khobragade.

It may be recalled that Mr Khobragade and Mr Rao are fighting a bitter battle regarding the Union's finances and workers demands.

Mr Khobragade had alleged the Union as illegal and said the members had mismanaged the Undertaking's funds and accumulated property worth Rs 200 crore.

He further said the finances of the Undertaking are in a very bad shape and it does not have money for paying salaries of its employees, whereas Mr Rao alleged that the Undertaking has a surplus and the finances had been mismanaged by Mr Khobragade.
