Political leaders call on TNCC President

Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Oct 30 (UNI) Leaders of various political parties cutting across party lines today called on Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnaswamy, who was admitted to Apollo hospital here with serious stab injuries.

Mr Krishnaswamy escaped a bid on his life when he was attacked by an unidentified armed gang at Keezha Kannicheri near Mudukulathur in Ramanathapuram district, last night.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi accompanied by his wife Dayalu Ammal, his cabinet colleagues, Janata Party President Subramaniam Swamy, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss and President G K Mani, Union Ministers G K Vasan and Anbumani Ramadoss, Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) Supremo Vaiko, DMDK President Vijayakanth, senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad, L Ganesan, H Raja, S Thirunavukkarasar MP, Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) Chief Thol Thirumavalavan, All India Socialist People's Party founder and actor R Sarath Kumar, CPI(M) State Secretary N Varadharajan, among others, visited the hospital today and enquired about the health condition of the injured congress leader.

Meanwhile, the hospital sources said the condition of Mr Krishnaswamy was stable after he had undergone an emergency surgery in abdomen.

Tight security arrangements were made in and around the hospital complex.
