Jodhpur, Oct 30: BJP president Rajnath Singh today said Indo-US nuclear deal was against national interest as it would not only affect the country's nuclear capability but also impinge on the sovereignty of the nation. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the 6th Swadeshi Mela-2007 here, Mr Singh said that the way in which the UPA Government had handled the deal had raised questions over India's foreign policy.
He added that Indian scientists and their achievements were commendable and instead of showing ''undue submission before the United States over the deal, our government should have relied upon talent of our scientists.'' The BJP president said the BJP would continue to oppose the efforts for the finalisation of the deal.
He also condemned the UPA Government for filing a controversial affidavit before the Supreme Court over the Ramsethu issue.
