India continues its self-reliance march in defence items

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Continuing her march towards self-reliance in developing and deploying defence products, Vishakapatnam-based Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) will hand over certain warship technology products developed by it to Indian Navy in Vishakapatnam tomorrow.

Dr A Sivathanu Pillai, Chief Controller (R&D), DRDO will hand over the products to Vice Admiral DSP Varma, Chief of Materials, Naval Headquarters, a Defence Ministry release said today.

NSTL has been developing warship technologies used for evading detection by enemy ships and submarines. Warship technology is a multi-disciplinary field covering acoustics and electro-magnetics among other things.

The products developed and delivered to Indian Navy by NSTL earlier include acoustics enclosures, acoustic silencers, double stage vibration isolation system, Radar transparent ladder, camouflage screens, helo net frames and composite blowers, the release added.
