New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Members of the World Twenty20 cricket title winning Indian team were felicitated by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi here this evening.
Earlier in the day, the players were honoured by the President and Prime Minister.
Ms Sonia Gandhi complimented the cricketers for bringing laurels to the country by winning the world title and exchanged pleasantries with them.
According to BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla, who accompanied the team, ''she also enquired about the upcoming series against Pakistan and Australia, and China being introduced to the game.'' The UPA chairperson had a special word of praise for seamer Rudra Pratap Singh, who belongs to her constituency Rae Bareli, and posed with him for a photograph.
Her daughter Priyanka and two grandchildren were also present on the occasion.
Middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh, who is not well, and Virender Sehwag, whose father passed away earlier in the day, were not present on the occasion.
In the morning the team called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence.
The players was with the Prime Minister for over 15 minutes.
Dr Singh congratulated each member of the team and presented them with mementoes for their remarkable achievement.
