New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) The Winter session of Parliament will be held from November 15 to December 7, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said today.
The decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs chaired by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here this evening.
The Winter Session of Parliament is generally convened in third week of November.
According to sources, the government has decided to advance the dates of the three-week session so that the full discussion on the Indo-US nuclear deal could be taken up at the earliest.
Several political parties, including Left and the BJP, were opposing the deal on the ground that it would affect the country's nuclear sovereignty and independent foreign policy.
Seeking a debate on the issue, these parties wanted the government to have a debate on the nuclear deal in Parliament.
