Vijaya Rahatkar is Aurangabad mayor

Aurangabad, Maharashtra Oct 29 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party corporator Vijaya Rahatkar has been elected as mayor of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Shiv Sena-supported independent candidate Bhausaheb Wagh has been elected the deputy mayor.

Rahatkar polled 59 votes while her rivals, both belonging to the Congress, Tarvinder Singh Dhillon and Abdul Rasheed Mamu, received 21 and 14 votes respectively. Mr Wagh bagged 59 votes while his rival Tarvinder Singh Dhillon received 33 votes.

The voting took place by raising hands. Out of 97 voters, three did not participate in the mayoral election while five remained aloof in the deputy mayoral poll.
