Agartala, Oct 29(UNI) Agartala State Police has intensified search for the whereabouts of 35 missing children of the Reang Refugee camp of Kanchanpur, North Tripura.

A five-member team of state police left for Hailakandi in Assam on Sunday last.

Director General of Police(DGP) K T D Singh said, ''the team will hold meetings with police officials of Hailakandi to know the status of investigation into the missing of children.'' A specific case has already been registered with the Kathalcherra police station in Hailakandi district. The state police team is likely to start a search operation to trace the children with the help of Hailakandi police.

Singh added that he had received a detailed report from Superintendent of Police(SP), North district, Uttam Majumder over the incident. According to the report, the children were lured by a group-D employee of Hailakandi in the last five years. The employee, identified as Bardamoni Reang, is now absconding.

The DGP said the accused had also taken money from parents of these children with a promise to admit them to reputed schools. But it later transpired that most of the children were allegedly sold in different places of north eastern states.
